Message from the President
(2018-2020)
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
First and foremost, I would like to welcome everyone to the PAMET-USA Texas Chapter.
My heart is filled with humility as I am honored and privileged to assume role as President of Pamet-USA Texas Chapter (2018-2020). I am deeply grateful for each member who have entrusted their votes on me on becoming your new President. It will indeed be a refreshing journey for each and everyone of us in this organization.
Before anything else. I would like to convey my gratitude to my predecessor, Marilyn De Gracia Opina,MD for her leadership and outstanding contributions to Pamet USA Texas Chapter during her 2 terms, as well as the members of the executive committee. I am inspired by the commitment you have shown, the organization’s growth is the product of the collective efforts of the past presidents as well as each vital member of our organization. In turn , fuels and inspires me in looking forward to continuing the work you have endowed on to me. 30 years ago, PAMET USA was born under the brave leadership of previous president of Pamet USA in Illinois Chicago and this ignited the birth of the different chapters including that of Pamet USA Texas Chapter in 1990.With a vision: ”PAMET shall be the constant prime mover in advancing the Medical Laboratory Science profession for the continuous growth and development of its members. ”Governed by the core values namely: Integrity, Professionalism, Commitment and Excellence and Unity.
Guided by the core values of our organization I am moved into leadership that is based on mutual commitment, respect, understanding and is member focused. The next two years shall be a reflection of how we will see our organization to grow: Henceforth, I enumerate the platforms that I feel strongly about which , I believe will greatly help our members to flourish and thrive in their respective institutions.
Continuing education. As the saying goes ” Develop passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow”. With that in mind we, Medical Laboratory Scientist should always have room for new information that shall pave way to our continued growth and development; not only in the workplace but individuals as well.
Community Integration: We should always bear in mind that as part of the community we must find ways to be more involved not only in the matters that concerns us but in the matters that will greatly reflect not only our vision but most importantly our responsibility as a member of the society.
Technology and Innovation: With the changing times and global innovation in the laboratory, it is vital for our organization and its members to be informed with the latest laboratory technologies. Being up to date and well informed is one of the key and vital elements of being a medical laboratory scientist Thus, it is our responsibility to keep the members up to date with latest innovation in the laboratory. Together, we shall discover and help each other learn all about these new technologies.
I am optimistic of our future organization, it has been a great journey thus far and it will only make us look forward, with hopeful hearts for the years to come. May we always be guided by the Lord in all our endeavors and may our actions greatly reflect that the core values that our organization stands for.
